Interviewed by Nina Hofmann from the Swiss Canadian Chamber of Commerce - Western Canada

The Swiss Canadian Chamber of Commerce is very excited to introduce our newest business member, LMtec, who provides global business consulting, engineering, and information technology services across all industry verticals.

It is the mission of LMtec to help their valued clients to innovate and bring better products and services to the market faster through best-in-class innovation, NPDI, PLM practices, processes, and technologies. LMtec takes what the future promises for tomorrow and make it a reality for their clients today.

We had the chance to talk to Marco Urfer, Project Coordinator and Spencer Whiteman, Marketing Director at LMtec to learn more about LMtec and how they see the future of the digitalization.

Why is it essential for a company today to invest in digital solutions?

If organizations do not “accept digital” as a strategy, they will be left behind. Most products and services developed today are becoming smarter, thus more complicated, requiring hardware, software, and electronic systems to work together.

Customer satisfaction, Faster time-to-market, improved cycle times, fewer errors, scrap, and rework are just a few of the benefits to building a smart digital enterprise.

How would you define a smart digital enterprise?

One that bridges the gap between an organizations business processes, systems and people, thus eliminating “silos” of information and encourages real time collaboration with a company’s value-added supply chain.

Intelligently integrating business systems such as CRM, ERP, MES & PLM systems, AND harmonizing these systems with an organizations business process.

How do you help your clients to build their smart digital enterprise?

A. Collaborate with their leadership team to ensure we understand their business objectives.

B. Workshop their existing processes, systems, and people and provide findings that will improve their ability to meet current and future business objectives.

C. Work side by side with our valued clients to successfully future proof and implement approved solutions.

How do you differentiate from other digital consulting companies?

OUR TEAM: Is key to our success, these subject matter experts come from a variety of industries, and as a result we have been able to templatize best practices and develop reusable assets along with our LMprime agile delivery methodology to ensure that our valued clients experience an early return on their investment and meet their business objectives.

FOCUS: We are 100% focused on Siemens Digital Industries Software solutions, and as a certified Smart Expert Partner of Siemens Digital Industries Software, we are 100% committed to the world class digital solutions they provide.

What opportunities does LMtec see in the Canadian market?

We work within the Process and Discrete Manufacturing arenas. Any company that develops and manufactures products are potential valued clients. Also, because of our global partnership with Siemens we not only support in consulting and systems integration activities but we can also sell the software solutions to Canadian businesses.

What are the biggest challenges for your business?

Brand recognition within Canada is a challenge to us getting in front of the right audience. The pandemic has caused many businesses to pull back and hold off on investing into software solutions as well as utilizing consulting partners like LMtec.

What is in your opinion the next big digital disruptive innovation that is going to change how companies do business?

Awareness and Acceptance of new business models that advanced digital technologies offer:

  • From mass production to single- to few -piece, one-time deliverables etc.

  • Utilization of 3D printing/additive manufacturing.

  • Low-code application development (10x faster with 70% fewer resources)

  • Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) etc.

What is your connection to Switzerland?

LMtec had its origins in Europe, with leadership in Switzerland. We also collaborate on industry-based solutions and services for the Automotive, Transportation & High-Tech industries respectively. Everyday our teams collaborate, not just on client projects but on industry and technology best practices.
